IDEA GENERATION

INITIAL IDEA
The essence of Fear
As the beginning, I decided to find out the source of fear so I made a brainstorm map (see Figure 1 ).
I found the fear could generally come from to way -----Physiological and Pathological. In another word, the fear can be formed by the object (Physiological) that could be danger to people and personal reason (Pathological) such as experience, psychological shadow, etc.
After doing research online and think about myself, I wrote down the form of object which make most people feel fear and uncomfortable(Figure 2).

Figure 2 : The kind of shape, material, colour which may have effect to expressing fear and uncomfortable ( Photography by Zhuoning Li 2018).
Pathological
In order to reflect the communication between the work and the audience, I have shaped my work by analysing the fears from people's psychology combined with their own psychological shadows. Combining the work itself with the inner feelings makes it more persuasive, rather than showing the fear itself to the audience only.

Content
The intensive things make me feel very anxious and fear in my heart. This is a common psychological change when people see a special objects ( Figure 3).Especially this thing is related to or common to our life. This  anxiety feeling as same as when We face gossip in real life. We feel uncomfortable in our heart but we don't known how to fight back and we feel there is a big mouth behind cannot stop gossip. The gossip is right close to us and even stationed in our brain. My work is aiming to express the feeling into a
physical object. This is the connection between a art work and audience by  show real feelings. This connect allow audience see the work while feeling it and responding internally.

Content
What make the picture looks so horrible? What memories does it evoke? What feelings does it evoke?
The main feelings of these objects in the photo are fear and despair. The memories they evoke are mainly memories that I have been hurt in life or want to avoid or the thing they not be familiar with. I believe these photos also contain the reader's entire perspective, the things they want to avoid or don't want to mention in life. When I face these things, every heart-to-heart communication is a new negative emotion added to the previous fear. Just like the branches of a tree that grows over time, every new experience of mine leads to more fear and despair. These feelings are full of all aspects of life. Since then, I have used a variety of orientation structures in sculpture to represent the fear and repression of many aspects of my heart that have arisen over time. I am represent the hurt of gossip in our life.
FORM

Figure 5 :Spider web structure photography by Shengyang Hua Wei 2016, mesh structure, branch structure.
In order to express fear through things, I originally wanted to express it in a tree-like structure. I explained it as a fear that will gradually increase and occupy all aspects of life. But at the same time all emotions are connected. This reminds me of a link with my personal thoughts and begins to enrich the form my sculpture can take. Then, I  find out fear is filling us inside rather than growing outside like a tree. so, I want to create a sense of spillover to show the feeling of fear has completely filled the inside. This described the huge sense of feeling about there is no space to hide when we face the fear.
Figure 6:Human head model photography by molkzxid 2015, A bundle of wire photography by Zhuoning Li 2018.
From this perspective, the most important thing for me is to combine the emotions of people and fear in the works. When analyzing my point of view, I noticed that I have very little interpretation of the "human" aspect. This is not to say no, but I think that adding some content will make the work more comprehensive and accurately express my meaning.
I want to change the base to the shape of the adult head, and use the wire to make a simple binding on the outer circumference to create a feeling of restraint and compression (Figure 6).
Figure 7 :Wonderful ant cave underground, Photography by  GU Shuang, 2016.
This rugged appearance (Figure 7) is particularly suitable for my project because it is related to my “multi-faceted concept” and “interrelated structure” ideas. I have found that materials with non-mirror effects are also interesting because continuous fuzzy surfaces are used as a tool for meditation. This refers to the idea of a deep inner consciousness and a state of reflection that can trigger a mental response.
FINAL IDEA
When I consider what form my sculpture will take, I find myself in trouble. In order to overcome this obstacle, I use the original material as a guide to brainstorm. After thinking and discussing, I chose some more impressive ideas. I also decided to change my sculpture focus to a diverse spatial model that resonates with more audience.
